Though the energy of GrassRoots still lingers in the air, another great Finger Lakes festival is already here. Seedstock combines a comfortable backyard vibe with a high level of organized professionalism for a unique weekend in Cortland, New York.
What began as a party back in 2008 has become a staple in most concertgoers’ summer agenda. Founders Tyler Coakley, Jamie Yaman, and Chris Merkley have succeeded in making Seedstock still feel like giant block party while maintaining a level of seriousness that puts it on the festival map. In addition to the volunteers who ensure Seedstock stays safe and functional, the food vendors and available camping invite attendees to truly make themselves at home.
This year’s lineup includes local favorites like Sophistafunk, The Blind Spots, and Mosaic Foundation. While there are some repeat performers from GrassRoots, Seedstock provides an intimate chance to catch up-and-coming artists. As a Cortland native, I’m thrilled to finally attend this festival. GrassRoots always seems to end too soon, but Seedstock gives us the chance to continue our quest for local music.
